We place high value on the preaching, teaching, and the personal study of the Bible. While Living Grace provides the resources and tools for understanding the Word of God, it is the responsibility of the individual believer to appropriate and utilize these tools.
Ministry
Meeting the needs of the world around us, both locally and internationally, is part of our everyday ministry. Living Grace actively sends our members ahead to U.S. and foreign missionary work while also focusing on serving our local community, Tacoma. It’s a place where what you learn can become more than just head knowledge.
We are a church that serves. We value studying the Word, competency in the message of the Bible, and discipleship of the next generation to serve our community and world for the sake of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. More than just head knowledge, we’re guided in implementing practical ministry.
TACOMA
Called to Tacoma over 30 years ago, we are dedicated to the people of our community and partner with local ministries to serve the needs of Tacoma. The School of Urban Ministry at Living Grace Church trains and sends workers in Tacoma and around the globe.
JESUS
Jesus’ finished work at the cross is at the center of everything we do. We believe what the Bible says about who Jesus is and what He has accomplished for us. His Word guides us in all our work. Spreading His Good News is our aim and faithfulness to his calling is our mission. We experience creative and exciting ways to reach the lost as each year goes by.

A Tribute to Pastor Paul Wheelock

A letter written by his son, Michael:
Yesterday on March 4th at 8:45 am, Dad took his last breath here on Earth and opened his eyes in Heaven. What an incredible moment that must have been! Having his parents welcome him with big hugs and kisses. No more cancer, no more pain, eating whatever he wants. Overwhelming joy. Heaven gained an amazing man who will be missed by all who knew him.
Thanks to all for the outpouring of love and prayers for Mom, myself and family! Dad was so blessed and encouraged to watch his surprise birthday video last Wednesday. The video link is below. Dad laughed, he cried and said, “I remember that!” many times. I don’t think he knew how great an impact his life had meant to so many. Thank you to family and friends that submitted heartfelt and encouraging videos, and Jake Nyman who helped put it together.
Dad was also tremendously blessed to be present for a live sermon in dedication to him, given by his dear friend Pastor Powell at Living Grace. That video link is posted below.
It was Dad’s wish to not have any additional memorial service as he was more than happy with words so many shared in their videos to him and the service he got to enjoy in person by Pastor Powell. What a blessing for Dad to have witnessed the live service and those cherished words shared by video while he was still alive!
You are deeply missed Dad. But I look forward to seeing you again in Heaven since life is just a vapor. Until then, enjoy building things in Heaven as I’m sure that’s what you would enjoy doing. Love you Dad.
